CLUB PROFILE

Manor Park Golf Club was established in 1913 and currently has around 850 members, most of whom are fairly active, with a wide range of membership options to suit most golfers' pockets and playing frequency.

It has a demanding 18-hole, par 71(Men) 73 (Women), tree-lined course set in native bush alongside the banks of the beautiful Hutt River in Lower Hutt (Wellington). It is surrounded by hills, with the often snow-clad Tararua mountain range as a backdrop. Another feature is a stream running alongside and through the western side of most of the course, that comes into play all too often. The Club is also well known for its extensive practise facilities including a par 3 practise hole, fairway practise area and separate two-tiered chipping, putting and bunker practise green as well as modern driving nets.

The Club has had many New Zealand and provincial representatives over the years, including current high- profile New Zealand touring professionals, such as its Honorary Members Michael Campbell (US Open winner), Lynnette Brooky, Gareth Paddison and Stephen Scahill.

It has a very active Junior Club with a highly respected coaching programme for the young golfer. This was the model system for the New Zealand Golf 'Junior Plus' coaching programme six years ago.

Other facilities include a modern two-storied clubhouse with bar, lounge and cafe and a new ground level sprig bar and summer deck overlooking the well- manicured course.  A fully stocked Pro Shop, with three experienced and qualified coaching professionals, is also part of the Club.

Manor Park is governed by a Board of Management with a good mix of experienced sports management and business people tasked by the Constitution to foster members' interests, develop the Club, its course and facilities for present and future generations of golfers.

The Club's mission statement enshrined in its Strategic Plan is:

'To make Manor Park the golf club of first choice in Wellington.'

and its slogan is:

'Experience the Difference'
