Junior coaching is free and available to all under 19’s that join Manor Park Golf Club as a Junior member.
Coaching is facilitated by the club’s Junior Convenor team and the club’s resident golf professional.
Our Coaching programme is a two-tier structure that caters for Beginners (Level 1) and Advanced (Level 2) U19 members. Coaching operates during the summer months from October to March.
Our on-course PGA Professional, Brady Bernard, coaches the Juniors on a Wednesday afternoon, with Group 1 at 4:00pm and Group 2 at 4:45pm.
Our Junior Convenor and team reinforce the skills learnt with a coaching session on Sunday afternoons, Group 1 at 4pm and Group 2 at 4:45pm. As children progress they may change to a different group. The Junior Convenor will determine which session juniors will attend based on their individual skill levels.
Group 1: For those aged 6 to 11, meet at 4pm on Sundays and work on basics of golf skills i.e set up, grip, stance, full swing, striking and putting while developing an appreciation for the importance of practice.
Group 2: For those aged 12 to 17, meet at 4:45pm on Sundays to develop the basics while increasing their knowledge of technical skills within their game i.e pre-game practice routines, course management and mental aspects of the game.
Junior members will also have the opportunity to play 3-9 holes with the designated Course parent helper as part of the coaching programme, learning on-course etiquette and putting into practice the skills they have learnt on the practice putting green and driving range.
There is also the opportunity to participate in Junior competitions, such as various Futures tournaments that are hosted by local golf clubs, and also represent the Club by participating in Junior Pennants, either 9 hole or 18 hole competitive golf. The Pennants competitions are held alongside Interclub during the first half of each year.
